Dinosaur death debate

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

A NEW review says that the asteroid impact theory of how the dinosaurs died is still the best explanation.

There are several theories about how the dinosaurs were wiped out, and a team of 41 experts from across the world has looked at them all again.

Writing in Science, they say that evidence for the Chicxulub impact in Mexico 65 million years ago is very good. The idea was first suggested 30 years ago, and a 200km-wide crator was discovered in 1991 that backed it up.

Experts say that the asteroid was 12km wide, which is the same size as the Isle of Wight. It weighed around three trillion tonnes and hit the Earth at 20 times the speed of a rifle bullet.

The impact released about a billon times more energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in World War II.

A bug which hit Sony’s PlayStation 3 console meaning players couldn’t link up and play online has been fixed.

The problem meant thousands of gamers could not play against others online, or use the PlayStation Network to download movies.

The problem did not affect the newer slim models of the PS3 but instead the older consoles.

Sony said that if gamers still had problems, they should adjust the date settings manually or via the internet.

You’re Charts: Computer game

The Japanese games maker had previously said gamers should stop using their games console until the problems were resolved.

A Brave Man Cracks Over a 1000miles run track

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Eddie A 57 year old man who your parents should know because in a 4 part series this man beat this world changing challenge for SPORT RELIEF. I didn’t see the first part so I don’t know where he started from but I know he finished in London. On the way he passed some of the landmarks that he saw when he was a little youngster.

Thank  to this 57 year old man for saving lives through the money he raised. He did over 1000miles in 50 days, of course he did have rest and when he finished he had leg pains from all that.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

During the last week of the term we will be having an Easter Egg Hunt.

There will be 6 eggs all be sprayed gold or silver which will be hidden around the field.  If you find the first three then it will be replaced with a chocolate Easter Egg! Then the last three are for fun.

We will need a small amount of money to cover the cost of the 3 chocolate eggs so it will be 20p to play. I hope you can all join the Easter fun.

Year 5 Super Learning Day

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

The super learning day for the year 5s was a great success and everyone enjoyed it.  The lesson we were looking at was Art and Design.

First, we had to draw round a person and then paint it in African colours and designs such as bright reds, greens, browns, pinks, blues and many more.

We all enjoyed the afternoon and thanked our yr 10 and 11 helpers. We hope we have the chance to go and visit again some time and perhaps see the new building in progress.

He was kidnapped in Pakistan on 3 March after robbers broke into his grandmother’s house, who he was visiting while on holiday.

A spokesperson for Sahil’s family in Oldham said they were “over the moon” with the news of his release.

Since Sahil’s release, its thought he’s had chance to have a chat on the phone to his mum. He’s expected home in Oldham soon, they all hope that he will have a good journey home.
