As you know, just over a year ago we achieved the Food for Life partnership Bronze Award for the quality of the school meals and the whole healthy food culture in our school. We have now been invited to apply for a silver award as recognition of the progress we have made over the past year. This application is going in now and we should know the result by the end of term. We are grateful for the support and encouragement which you give and the whole school commitment to healthy lifestyles was recognised in our Ofsted inspection.
Schools are now required to encourage children to eat healthily in their packed lunches as well in school meals. We understand that all children do, quite naturally, have likes and dislikes but we would encourage you to try to encourage you to try to include as many healthy options as possible. We hope you find the attached leaflet useful. Many further ideas are available on www.nutrition.org.uk and types in lunches and in many newspaper and magazine articles.
